With a military background and an artisan of varied trades, Jonhda Starling is versatile in traditional and digital media, such as oil paint, acrylics, inks watercolors and Adobe Creative Suite Software. Starling shows meticulous attention to detail with military memorabilia, science fiction/fantasy themes and styles to subject matter that are influential to pop culture enthusiasts. She has developed a determination to influence and make an impact to those who have difficulty or have yet to discover their purpose in their lives due to the causes of oppression, underdevelopment and underrepresentation. A long-term commitment and work in progress has been made to make light of these situations preferably in the form of graphic novels and children’s storybooks.
Starling currently resides in Colorado, as she continues her mission of refining her artisan skills developing ways of making some things out of nothing. She recently earned a bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Starling is also a member of the Veterans Arts Council located at VFW Post 1 off the Santa Fe Drive Arts District where she displays some of her handiwork. She freelances under the name, The Starling Art Collective, specializing in murals, canvas paintings, logo and branding designs, Flash for tattoo and apparel designs, Character concepts, amongst a plethora of skills she can pull out of her sleeve.
